Getting to Howick and home again is easy!

Whether you walk, drive or catch public transport, there are plenty of ways to get to Howick to experience the best in boutique shopping.
We have regular buses that have stops down the main street so you won’t have to walk far to access the markets, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Drive

Getting to Howick and home again is easy!

On November 15th, 1847 the sailing ship “Minerva” arrived at Owairoa (Howick Beach) from England with the first of the Fencible soldiers. The Fencibles were retired soldiers who were used as a home guard to protect the then capital of New Zealand, Auckland, from the Waikato tribes.

Getting to Howick and home again is easy!

Life was not easy for them or for the few wives who came with them. Local Mâori built native huts that served as temporary accommodation until cottages were built.

Bus

Give yourself time to relax and take the bus!

Getting to Howick via bus is easy and we have regular buses running from Auckland CBD, Botany, Beachlands, Panmure Train Station and other suburbs.

Catch a Ferry

There are regular ferries from Auckland CBD and Waiheke Island to Half Moon Bay Marina. From here you can catch a bus or taxi to Howick.

If you’re enjoying a night out at one of our many bars and restaurants, there is a taxi stand on Picton Street in front of the Information Building and across from The Good Home.
