Howick Beaches

Walk to Howick Beach

After spending a few hours shopping, you can head down Uxbridge or Selwyn Road which both lead to the beautiful Howick Beach.

Howick Beach is approximately 5 minutes walking or 1 minute by car from the main street of Howick.

Explore the rock pools, collect shells, sit on the grass up on the hill and watch the waves or just relax in your car eating takeaways with nice scenery to look at. Without too much of a current to worry about, it’s a great place to bring the kids.

This is about as good as it gets!

Cockle Bay Beach

The stunning Cockle Bay Beach is just a 5 minute drive from central Howick.

With a historic restaurant at one end and a reserve and children’s playground at the other, it’s a great place to take the kids to feed the ducks and burn off some energy. Sit down at the beach and watch them play safely in the shallows or take a stroll down to the far end where there’s huge Pohutukawas to climb.

With views right out to Waiheke, Beachlands and Maraetai, the scenery here is not to be missed.

Mellons Bay Beach

Popular with the locals, Mellons Bay has beautiful views of Rangitoto and Waiheke Island.

Mellons Bay Beach is a great place for walking the dog or just sitting in the car at the top carpark and taking in the scenery. There are toilet facilities here and if you’re feeling energetic, take the path up to Bleakhouse Road and to the Macleans Reserve bush track.
